Victorian Side Table
Description
Elegant 19th Century English Bobbin-Leg Stretcher Table
We are delighted to present for sale this elegant 19th-century stretcher, console, or occasional table, a fine example of English craftsmanship from the late Victorian period.
This piece displays graceful proportions and stands proudly on bobbin-turned legs** united by a matching stretcher. The wood boasts a warm autumn chestnut hue with a deep, rich polish throughout. The tabletop features superb floral marquetry to the center, beautifully framed by Satinwood inlays—a testament to the refined artistry of the era.
As expected from a piece of this age, it bears some minor veneer losses along the edges and to sections of the marquetry. However, these are consistent with its age and only add to its pleasing, time-worn patina. This is a timeless design that perfectly balances elegance and character, epitomising 19th-century English quality.
